Group exercise is a great way to enhance your rehabilitation or maintain your health and wellbeing. It can be difficult to stay motivated exercising alone at home. Group exercise is an excellent stimulus to keep you on track with your program and to ensure you are performing your exercises with ideal technique and with confidence. Exercising under supervision and with larger equipment can also allow the therapist to provide greater challenge but in a safe environment. This can help kick along your progress a little faster. After our recent experiences with social isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, group exercise is also an excellent reason to get out of the house and connect with others who might be on a similar journey to yours. Exercising with some smiles and a laugh brings a whole other range of benefits 🙂

Group exercise options at PhysioTec, Tarragindi, Brisbane
Small Group Exercise with a Physio
These are groups of 3 people performing individual programs under the supervision of a physiotherapist. Your program is set up by the physio in 1:1 sessions prior to joining the class. this allows the physio to set you a program that best fits your needs and goals, and ensure you have enough familiarity and confidence to join a group environment. For people already seeing our physio's, this is usually just 1-2 sessions in the gym to familiarise you with our equipment and your program. For those new to the clinic, you will need a 1 hour assessment prior to progressing into gym sessions.
These classes are run in our Pilates gym with lots of light and windows and relaxing palms. The physio's will be able to select from a variety of Pilates and balance equipment, weights, band and the TRX, to design a program that best suits your needs.
Pilates Classes
Pilates is a method of exercise using controlled movement to retrain optimal movement patterns and restore maximum muscle tone and flexibility. Large Pilates equipment such as reformers, wunda chairs and ladder barrels provide excellent opportunities to challenge the body in unique ways. You can do some Pilates training in our small group physio-led classes or with a Pilates Instructor.

Body, Bones & Balance
Our Body, Bones & Balance (BBB) classes are starting again soon. These classes are designed specifically to stimulate your bones and improve your balance while also considering your individual body, to ensure safe and effective training. The class involves a combination of strengthening exercises using Pilates equipment and appropriate weights, balance exercises, and bone impact activities. We also have a whole body vibration machine that can give your bones some extra stimulus.

Strength & Conditioning
Strength and conditioning training with one of our physiotherapists is available in our S & C gym. This can be 1:1 'personal training' or ask about bringing a partner, relative or a friend or 2, to train in a small group.
Keen to start at the gym but not sure what exercises to do or how to train safely? You might like to try our GymStart program 1:1, or bring a friend, family member or partner.

Strength & Conditioning for Dancers
Our expert dance physio's see many young dancers who have developed pain or sustained injuries that may have been avoided with better levels of strength and conditioning. We see this particularly in our teenage dancers. We are currently gathering interest from dancers who might like to join a class specifically designed for building strength and movement control to reduce injury risk, recovery from injury or to enhance performance.
