Alison Grimaldi

PhD, MPhtySt (Sports), BPhty

Alison has completed her PhD through the University of Queensland involving collaborative research with the European Space Agency. Her research was aimed at improving the understanding of function of the lateral stability mechanism of the hip and pelvis.

Alison is also an APA accredited Sports Physiotherapist with a Masters degree in Sports Physiotherapy (UQ). She has 18 years of clinical experience and a special interest in therapeutic exercise, and the use of realtime ultrasound for muscle assessment and retraining.  To this end she continues to expand her knowledge of ultrasound techniques that will be of assistance in clinical practice, including further training through the Australian Institute of Ultrasound.

Alison is a visiting lecturer on Therapeutic Exercise for the Hip & Pelvis on Physiotherapy Masters programmes at the University of Queensland, and runs courses for physiotherapists around Australia and overseas on this topic. Over the last 10 years Alison has been an invited speaker at many conferences at state, national, and international levels. She presented at IFOMT in Rotterdam in 2008, and in 2009 was a keynote speaker at the 3rd International Conference on Movement Dysfunction in Edinburgh, and an invited speaker for 3 different special interest groups at the national Australian Physiotherapy Association Conference week in Sydney.

Kirsty McNab

BPhty, MPhtySt(Sports)

Sports Physiotherapist

Kirsty Completed her Sports Masters in 2006 through the University of Queensland.  She qualified in the UK and has worked the last 9 years in Australia.  She works predominately in private practice and has a special interest in the sporting hip and shoulder.

Kirsty has worked with many sporting teams.  She attended the 2006 Winter Olympics as a physiotherapist with the Australian team and worked with the Australian Short Track Speed Skating team for 6 years.  The last 2 years she has been a physiotherapist for the Australian Tennis Open in Melbourne.

Kirsty is a member of the Qld Sports Physiotherapy Association committee and the board of Qld Sports Medicine Australia.  She has lectured at various events for both organisations and assisted Dr Grimaldi on the nationally run courses on the hip.

She has a special interest in both the hip and shoulder joints.  She has undertaken training with the Australian Institute of Ultrasound to assist in methods of further assessment and retraining of the musculoskeletal system.
