Shoulder Workshop

Theory Component:

The theory component of this course will address current views on normal and aberrant muscle function around the shoulder girdle, and the relationship to joint & tendon pathology.

Practical Component:

US imaging assessment of the shoulder :
         Tendon assessment of Biceps brachii, Subscapularis, Infraspinatus, Supraspinatus
         Dynamic assessment of subacromial impingement
         Acromioclavicular joint assessment
Use of realtime ultrasound for imaging the local shoulder muscles for assessment and feedback in therapeutic exercise– Lower trapezius, serratus anterior, supraspinatus, posterior cuff, levator scapulae.

The theory component of this workshop will be delivered via our online learning site. registrants will receive an extended subscription to the relevant section of the site.

PLEASE NOTE: ACCESS TO WORKPLACE RTUS IS NOT A PREREQUISITE.

Knee, Ankle & Foot Workshop

Theory Component:

The theory component of this course will address current ideas on pathomechanics of common chronic soft tissue pathologies of the ankle & foot, and implications for their management. We will cover chronic pathologies of the Achilles tendon, Plantar fascia, Peroneal & Tibialis Posterior tendons.

Practical Component:

Knee:
Imaging of the patellar tendon and fat pad, quadriceps tendon, ITB & tendons at the lateral knee, pes anserinus
Use of realtime ultrasound in VMO retraining

Ankle & Foot:
Imaging of the Achilles tendon & plantar fascia including normative values for tendon/fascial thickness
Imaging of the tendons of the anterior, medial, and lateral ankle. You will also learn to track these tendons into the muscle bellies of the leg.
Dynamic assessment of the anterior tibiotalar joint
Use of realtime ultrasound to image the intrinsic foot musculature for dynamic rehabilitation.
Specificity of early exercise therapy approaches
