Dr Alison Grimaldi

PhD, BPhty, MPhtySt (Sports)

Principal Physiotherapist

With over twenty years' experience as a physiotherapist, Alison has a PhD on muscle function around the hip, trunk and pelvis, a Masters degree in Sports Physiotherapy, and a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, all completed at the University of Queensland, Australia. Alison's research has involved studies undertaken in collaboration with the European Space Agency. She is currently involved with research studies through the University of Melbourne and the University of Sydney, as well as conducting her own ongoing research through her clinical practice, with links with the University of Queensland. Alison has published a number of papers in scientific journals.

Alison continues to work clinically and has worked across a broad spectrum of sports, including elite level athletics & swimming. With extensive experience in the use of RealTime Ultrasound in the assessment and retraining of the deep trunk stabilisers, Alison has pioneered the use of this technology for the assessment and retraining of muscle function around the hip & pelvis.

 

Alison is a visiting lecturer at Masters level at Queensland University, and also runs weekend seminars and courses around Australia & overseas with a focus on muscle function, therapeutic exercise, and the use of real time ultrasound in clinical practice. She has presented at many state, national & international conferences. In 2008 Alison presented her research at an International Physiotherapy Conference (IFOMT) in Rotterdam, and a weekend course at the Royal Opera House in London, for physiotherapists to the London Ballet.

In 2009 Alison was a keynote speaker at the 3rd International Conference on Movement Dysfunction in Edinburgh, and an invited speaker for 3 different special interest groups at the national Australian Physiotherapy Association Conference week in Sydney.

In 2010 Alison was the invited speaker for the APA end of year breakfast for 600 physiotherapists, medical practitioners, and sports physicians at the National Gallery of Victoria. In 2011 Alison has been invited to present as a keynote speaker at the New Zealand Manipulative Physiotherapists Association Biennial Scientific Conference, and to present an instructional course in Singapore. She has also been invited to present at the 52nd Australian Rheumatology Association Annual Scientific Meeting.

 

Kirsty McNab

BPhty, MPhtySt(Sports)

Sports Physiotherapist

Having completed her physiotherapy degree with honours in the UK in 1998, Kirsty arrived in Australia 9 years ago to focus on sports physiotherapy and musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

She has worked for a number of sporting bodies, including Tennis Australia as a physiotherapist at the last 2 Australian Tennis Opens, and the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia. She was one of four physios that went to the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, and for 6 years worked with the Australian Short Track Speed Skating Team, travelling extensively with them to World Cup competitions overseas.

Kirsty completed her Masters studies (specialising in Sports Physiotherapy) at the University of Queensland, 2006, and was awarded the prize for the highest grade on her Sports Masters course.

Of special interest to Kirsty is the treatment of injuries relating to the hip, shoulder and lower limb complex. Her skills involve screening evaluation to correct muscle imbalances and joint alignment – both in the treatment and prevention of injury – as well as a high level of hands-on treatment skills.

Kirsty has also lectured for various courses and conferences, and sits on the board of Queensland Sports Medicine Australia and the Queensland Sports Physiotherapy Association.

Trina Maria Lat

BSPT, MPhty (Sports) Dip Rem Mass

Trina completed her physiotherapy degree in 2002 in the Philippines where she then worked and specialized in Sports Physiotherapy, with a particular interest in rehabilitation of lower limb injuries and post-surgical recovery. In 2005 Trina came to Australia and completed a Masters degree  in Physiotherapy, specializing in Sports at the University of Queensland, and the following year a obtained a Diploma of Remedial Massage in 2006 at The Australian College of Natural Medicine. Trina has worked as a sports physiotherapist with various sporting teams in the Philippines and as a sports trainer and physiotherapist  with the AFL team Mayne Tigers in Queensland from 2005-2008.

Trina has a special interest in sport and rock climbing injuries as well as injuries relating to the hip, knee, ankle and foot complex.
